About Me
Return To Sea Fishing In The Northwest

Hello, I'm Martin Jones and I'm the webmaster of this website. Decided to make this website when I tried in vain to find a website that covered all the northwest while I was staying at Grange On The Sands. Not a sausage! The fishing is excellent up there and I'm gob-smacked that no webmaster wants to cover it. However, I'm back home in Warrington now so I hope nobody minds that this website (for now) deals mainly with the Fylde and Wirral marks which I'm more familiar with and have fished all my life. However I havn't forgotten the main purpose of this site which is to eventually cater for those anglers who fish the Northern extremities of the northwest on some fantastic (if unmentioned) venues like Morecambe and Whitehaven which have some of the most vast scenery I've seen in my life. If there's any knowledgeable angler out there who can help me do this and help me give that area the profile that it deserves, I'd be very grateful. Even the magazines ignore that region and yet it's less hammered by trawlers and anglers than any part of the UK and there's BIG fish to be caught there. It's the only place that I've caught a double figure cod from the shore and also ray. I'm disabled now, due to a boating accident, so do tend to stick to the more easily accessible venues now and I hope that this won't hinder me as an advisory.
Back to hereabouts, I love the Mersey and am sickened by what this nation has done to such a magnificent river but enlightened by recent improvements. I still see things that make me sad though like this outfall (below) near Morpeth pumping Station near the Air Vents. Those items on the grill are exactly what they look like... ladies sanitary towels and mens condoms. How can the water boards claim to be doing their bit when they do this?

I hope you like my website and hope that it's useful to you. If you have any questions, e-mail me and I'll try and share my knowledge with you. Likewise, if there's any knowledge that you'd like to share with me, I'd be grateful. Many thanks to the websites who have allowed me to link to some of their pages and 'whoops sorry' to those that I've linked to without asking.
